The UNLV Rebels landed a three-star commitment Wednesday night from the Houston area in 2018 safety Phillip Hill.
UNLV originally offered Hill on Nov. 5. That was Hill’s first offer.
Hill owns a good frame relative to his projected safety position and knows how to use it as he will look for the big hit when the opportunity is available.
The industry-generated 247Sports Composite ranks Hill as the No. 273 overall prospect in the state of Texas’ 2018 class, as well as the No. 151 safety nationally for the senior cycle.
In nine games this season, the 6-foot, 183-pound Hill has recorded 41 tackles, two interceptions, one fumble recovery, and four pass breakups. Hill enjoyed a breakout junior season a year ago, when he registered 31 tackles, one interception, and three pass breakups.
In March at The Opening New Orleans, Hill ran a laser-timed 4.78-second 40 with a shuttle of 4.35 seconds and 37-inch vertical for an impressive Nike Football Rating of 103.08.
Hill has helped Klein Collins to a 10-0 start this season, including a win this past weekend in the first round of the Texas Class 6A Division II playoffs.
Klein Collins next faces Round Rock Stony Point (7-4) at 3 p.m. Friday at Kelly Reeves Stadium in Austin in a Texas 6A D-II second-round playoff.
