SAN ANGELO, TX – Experts say thanksgiving week is the busiest travel time of the entire year in Texas.
State troopers and local and county law enforcement officers will be out on patrol over the holiday weekend looking for drunk drivers, speeders and motorists not wearing seatbelts.
As Texans prepare for the thanksgiving holiday, Texas Department of Public Safety officials remind you to make safety a priority.
“We want you to make sure we’re traveling at safe speeds, always wear your seatbelt. Its required by all passengers, especially those kiddos, younger than eight have to be in a child safety seat or booster seat and we want to make sure those seats are properly secured in the vehicle,” said Safety Sergeant Justin Baker. “And then last, DWI, don’t drink and drive for any reason, get a safe ride home, and have a dedicated designated driver.”
Over thanksgiving weekend in 2016, Texas troopers issued more than 51,000 traffic citations and warnings.
